About

Hi I’m Emma

I thought it would be useful for you to know a little about me and what I do:

I am a qualified Sports Massage Therapist (ITEC level 3) with the following additional qualifications:

  • Level 2 Sports Coach (UK Athletics)
  • CHEK Scientific Core Conditioning certificate
  • Diploma in Pregnancy Massage

When I started running in 2001 I could not have imagined that this would lead me into a whole new career pathway. I ran in the Great North Run and then over the subsequent years I gradually started running off road, in the fells and over longer distances. I have taken part in many running races and a few triathlons but my main goals at the moment lie in ultra-distance fell and trail running. I have competed in Fellsman (a 61 mile traverse of the hills in the Yorkshire Dales) and I am currently training to complete the Bob Graham Round (a 66 mile traverse of 42 of the peaks in the Lake District) and the Lakeland 100 (a 100 mile route around the Lake district). Wish me luck!

I became interested in the field of sports massage as a direct result of my own running, as I have regularly been for sports massage myself and found the treatments both helpful and interesting. My priorities as a Coach and Sports Massage Therapist are to encourage individuals of all abilities to achieve their goals and to avoid becoming injured. I have learnt through experience that having regular sports massage and improving core strength can significantly reduce the risk of injury.

It’s not just about sports though. As someone who has had jobs that involve lots of sitting down at the computer and lots of driving, I am aware of how we can develop back and shoulder pain and headaches. I am therefore an advocate of having a good deep tissue back massage to help ease these aches and pains. I chose to learn about pregnancy massage when a number of my friends became pregnant. I wanted to be able to help them by reducing the more specific discomforts associated with pregnancy, and I believe that pregnancy massage is a treat that all mothers-to-be deserve.

I look forward to taking care of you!

Thanks

Emma
